shifter information -

he and his brother (twin? clone?) are both chimeras with the shifter mutation.
in this case, it means one half of the chimera's geno is each side of the shifter mutation. the way these two in particular work is they can be either one half or the other, or they can have both shown at the same time but "marbled" together in any number of patterns . this can be chaotic and hectic swirls, giant patches, alternating stripes, simply split down the middle, etc. etc.
in a way, its a form of camouflage. they appear jade during the day to blend in with the sun and often the grass or trees, and lilac at night to match the shadows and muted colors
it's a controllable change though, and they can appear however they want to at any given moment. they even have slight preferences for which colors they like more
"square" tends to prefer the lilac part of his appearance
