I-255: Volodar

volodar considers himself to be a scholar and researcher on some level, though not on the same level as those whose jobs it is to dedicate their whole lives to the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. for him, it's more of a deeply satisfying hobby to occupy his time and mind. he enjoys noting down new discoveries, testing old ones, and generally attempting to tease out the truth from a pile of misinformation, rumors, and hearsay. he keeps several journals and notebooks at any given time, each one neatly noted with what topics its dedicated to. he's yet to officially publish anything himself, but he is intrigued by the idea 

he enjoys traveling a lot, and as a result volodar has many friends in odd, distant places. he often finds himself drawn to similar drakiri as himself - those who pursue truth and knowledge - or otherwise odd or eccentric drakiri. if there's a mystery or discovery to be had, he's all in. though, he enjoys learning more about any topic, even those that aren't in his usual bundle of interests 

volodar isn't easily put off by things others consider dangerous or taboo. as a hobbyist researcher who often goes and tests things out for himself, volodar has discovered quite a few things that many drakiri consider "dangerous" or "off-limits" often aren't nearly as frightening or dangeous as they believe. many times, they're just poorly understood or have a lot of misinformation about them floating around. he considers it a duty of his to attempt to dispell this misinformation any time he comes across it 

when it comes to magic and spellwork, volodar is still an amateur - a fact which troubles him greatly and he feels significant shame over. not for lack of trying, either. he's made many attempts to channel magic and cast simple, low level spells, but even the easiest ones he struggles with. his birth family prided themselves on producing many a master magician, and magic often came incredibly naturally to those born in the family. the importance of magic and learning to master it as quickly and as young as possible were always stressed upon him. it was an expectation he struggled to meet, falling well behind even siblings younger than himself
he has since dropped contact with the majority of his family, but volodar still keeps in contact with his brother on occasion
