Mana Points are earned by drawing your Drakiri, writing about them, or having them drawn. Mana Points allow your Drakiri to climb the ranks and level up!
To learn more about leveling up, go check out the Level Guide (Link Coming Soon)

Background Info

Backgrounds have 2 tiers, each one required for specific tasks within the species. Only once the backgrounds meet these guidelines will they be counted. IN addition, ABSOLUTELY NO photo backgrounds or stock backgrounds will be accepted for points.

    • Simple Background consists of either just a bit of ground beneath the Drakiri, or ground and a sky, with 1-2 background elements.  It needs to have at least two background elements to count as a simple background.
    • Complex backgrounds have more elements. These have lighting, shading, and your Drakiri effected by said lighting and shading.
    • A complex background consists of more elements and the Drakiri interacting with their environment somehow so they are a part of it instead of the background simply being behind them, If the background has enough background elements, even a flat colored background will count as complex.

Literature

Writing is a lot of effort, just like artwork, if not moreso! Just like with artwork, literature will not be judged by the skill of the writer, but rather by the effort and passion that goes into the writing.

The Drakiri must be mentioned fluidly throughout the writing, and must have an impact on the story if they appear. They will gain MP even if they are not present, but have a significant focus and impact. For example, if one of your Drakiri is a villain but doesn't appear directly but their actions have a big impact on the rest of the Drakiri in the written story, as in all the Drakiri mention them and major parts of what they are doing drives the plot, they will gain the MP along with the other Drakiri in the story.  However, if the focus is not on them, then they will not gain the MP.

Writing style will not be penalized and will still earn MP for that Drakiri, as long as it's made clear which Drakiri is in the story. For example, if you are writing from the perspective of Drakiri that do not know the other one, they don't have to be mentioned by name if it does not go with the flow of the story. In this case, describe the Drakiri themselves as the other sees them or their effects on the storyline. You can also add a note that the Drakiri is mentioned, but not by name, for the staff handling the MP verification.

If a Drakiri appears later in the story, only the section they are in or their presence is felt in a significant way counts for MP. For example, if you are writing a story, and a Drakiri doesn't appear until the end, only the section they appeared in or effected counts for them. This ends once their presence is no longer felt. This means that if a Drakiri appeared and caused ripple effects that change the way the written piece goes, and the story would not be the same without them, the effects they had will net them MP as well.

Note that the focus should be on a Drakiri for it to count for their MP. For example, a drakiri asks another go get something for them, and the other has an adventure on the way, the Drakiri that asked them to go will not get MP aside from the section where they asked the other to go, unless there is focus on them throughout the story.  A Drakiri thinking about another, having an emotional response, even with them not there, will count for MP (Like a Drakiri pausing to reflect on the actions of another while looking at a picture, they will get MP for that section where the Drakiri is thinking about the other one)

Write notes for anything that seems ambiguous, to explain so the staff can know what to look for.

It would be appreciated to break up long fictions into chapters, so that staff can take them in bite sized chunks since they are all very busy and volunteering to help out with verification. If one chapter of a long story ties in with another, feel free to put notes about it in the comments, because even chapterized, long fics will still count as one and won't make you lose MP! We know context tends to tie in with otherstories if there are many interconnected tales.

  • 6MP for 500 words
  • +1 MP for every additional 100 words after that. The word count rounds up if it's 50 or more, down if it's 49 or fewer. This also counts for mentions that are fewer than 500 words, for example a Drakiri is mentioned in a scene, perhaps a short interaction with the others... it will get +1 MP for every 100 words, rounding up from 50 and down from 49)
  • +1 for a poem

Bonuses that apply to Literature

  • Starter: +1 per Starter (Stacks with Unowned Drakiri, up to 3 can be used for the mana count)
  • Unowned Drakiri: (Stacks with the Starter bonus, up to 3 can be used for the mana count, however only one Master (Or Grandmaster, Elder or Ancient, who are essentially an upgraded Master) per image may be counted)
  • NOTE: The Starter and/or Unowned Drakiri must have more than just a passing mention, and must be actively a part of the story to apply. They do not count if they are just background characters.
  • Other Species: +1 (This can be from another ARPG, another person's species, or your own species. This only goes for fictional species, not real world species)
  • Not Commissioned: +1 (You wrote it for yourself. It's not a commission, not being done in payment, and it is your own Drakiri. This does not count for RP.)
  • Collaberation or RP: +2 (Does not stack with Not Commissioned)
  • Master Drakiri: +2 (Masters do not stack so only one Master Drakiri will count towards the final MP count)
  • Activities/Prompts: +2
  • Descriptive Environment: +2
  • Companion: (This is a WIP system, companion bonuses are not in action yet) +1
  • NOTE: The companion must have more than just a passing mention, and must be actively a part of the story to apply. They do not count if they are just in the background.

For every 1500 words, these bonuses stack!  Note that the bonus must apply to the 1500 words that are stacking, and it will round up from 1000 in writing. So if a character appears throughout the written piece or RP, the bonus stacks every 1500 words. This goes for Masters, The Master and Apprentice bonus, Activity/Prompt/Event bonus, Companion, RP/Collab bonus. The character must appear throughout the written piece, and will only count for the sections they appear in (IE first 1500 words has the starter, but the next 1500 does not, then it will not stack, but if the starter is there through the whole story, the bonus will stack)
Descriptive Envorinment will count, but only if there is some focus put on the environment after the scene is set throughout the written piece.

The most difficult thing to calculate, and the most nuanced, is how much the character appears in the written piece. This can be narrowed down, roughly, to three questions. When filling out the form to redeem MP, please give your logic for why the Drakiri mentioned gets that MP. Feel free to direct the staff to the section of the story the character is featured in.

Q: Is the character the focus of the story? Are they the main characters?
A: If they are the main character/s, the story is about them and their journey/plight/adventures or whatever else they are doing in the story. Main characters get the full Mana count for the story.

Q: Is the character a part of the story?
A: Are they a side character, with a fairly significant sway on the story? If so, the areas where they appear can be counted for Mana Points. For example, of Drakiri A appears in Drakiri B's story, and they interact and talk for a bit, and then part ways, the first appearance of the Drakiri through to when they leave can be counted for that Drakiri's MP

Q: If the character is just mentioned, are they a background character?
A: Does their mention flow with the rest of the story? f they are simply mentioned,  it wouldn't count for MP, BUT, if the mention flows with the rest of the story. For example, Drakiri A met Drakiri B. Drakiri B may not be there, but Drakiri A is thinking about them. Drakiri A hesitates, or changes their decision because of their thoughts on Drakiri B. Drakiri B must be mentioned as the reason for this hesitation, and that mention, and the resulting hesitation would coult for MP, but not the rest of the story until/unless Drakiri B was mentioned again.

Digital and traditional artwork

All coloring, shading and background counts up from the tier of drawing that was done. If you colored, shaded and added a background from the sketch you would start from the sketch tier. If you colored, shaded, and added a background from the Linework, you would start the count at the linework.

*For Lineless, it still gains the Linework bonun. While it does not have lines, the edges are still refined and shown with lighting. There are no penalties for Lineless. Detailed shading will give you the Painted bonus, this pertaining to digital and traditional greatly detailed paintings.

*Sketch counts as the basis of the piece, as all drawings start with a sketch, You get the MP for the sketch even if it's refined to a full piece!

*Note that we absolutely understand that some tools have limitations! Greyscale pencil drawings are allowed as long as the Drakiri is recognizeable and effort goes into rendering their markings! If you have markers that are not capable of shading or don't have the tools to, just let us know when you go to have your MP counted or your image judged for Rites or an Activity. If your tools have limitations, you won't be penalized for doing the best with what you have!

Headshots

The Drakiri is only visible from the neck up.

  • Sketch: 1
  • Lineart: +1
  • Flatcolor: +1
  • Simple Shading: +1
  • Simple Background Flat/Shaded: +2/+3
  • Complex Background Flat/Shaded: +2/+3
(Note that these stack on top of the Sketch bonus! Even if the sketch does not show, you still get the MP for it as a basis! Lineart, Flatcolor, Shading, And Background (+shading) all stack so a complex shaded headshot with a complex shaded background would come out to 6.5 MP total. Thos goes for all tiers!)

Halfbody

Half of the Drakiri's body is showing

  • Sketch: 1
  • Lineart: +2
  • Flatcolor: +2
  • Shaded: +2
  • Simple Background Flat/Shaded: +3/+4
  • Complex Background Flat/Shaded: +4/+5

Fullbody

At least 75% of the body should be showing. Environment and composition is taken into account for this.

  • Sketch: 1
  • Lineart: +2
  • Flatcolor: +3
  • Shaded: +3
  • Simple Background Flat/Shaded: +4/+5
  • Complex Background Flat/Shaded: +5/+6
  • Interacting with Environment Flat/Shaded: +6/+8 (Is the Drakiri actively interacting with their environment? This takes more effort, and thus, nets you more MP)

*Chibi/simplified works: Mana count divided in half. Please note that if this is your usual style, this doesn't apply! Your work work will be compared with the rest of your work, not to the work of any other artists. Also note that this will be weighed against your average work, and not your best pieces! So if you do some paintings to practice, then go back to your usual, or try a new thing and go back to your usual, this won't detract from future works!

  • Accurate Sky: +2 (Sky Reference link coming soon!)
  • Companion: +2 (Some Companion items will have some minor MP bonuses both for the Drakiri that is bonded to the companion and Drakiri depicted with the one bonded to the companion. • Leadership Ability: +3 (Does not Stack)
  • Master/Apprentice Bonus: When a Drakiri takes an Apprentice, they get a special bonus when depicted together. +3 MP goes to the Master AND the Apprentice! Do not confuse this with the Level 5 bonus. This stacks with the level bonuses. Note that this must be done while they are still Master/Apprentice. Any art done *after* the apprenticeship ends will not count this MP bonus. Apprenticeship ends either when the owner of the master or apprentice ends it or the apprentice reaches Level 5)
  • Gift Bonus: +1 MP (Note that there MUST be a note in the Drakiri's profile that the owner is OK with them being added in to group pieces for this to apply! Without that note, this bonus will not apply!)
  • Low Level Gift Bonus: +1 MP (This stacks with the Gift Bonus. If a Drakiri is levels 0-2 and receives a gift, they benefit other Draks in the image with another Mana Point. Note that there MUST be a note on the Drakiri's profile that the owner is OK with them being added in to group pieces to apply! Without this note, the bonus will not apply!)

Please note that when adding a Drakiri to am image for the MP bonus, you MUST have the owner's permission to do so! This is found either as a note in the Drakiri's profile, or a permission written by the owner. If there is not a note in the profile, you MUST have a comment URL as proof that the Drakiri's owner is OK with this! This applies to all art done of a Drak, gift or otherwise.

Some Important Notes
  • A Master Drakiri does not boost their own MP, but they do boost the MP of Drakiri around them. Masters can boost eachother, however!
  • Master bonuses stack with Unowned bonus!
  • Leadership as an ability gives a boost of 3 MP for images and writing, however the images should be at least flatcolored/simple background (Or shaded/detailed for pencil work) for the Leadership boost to take effect) and a story should be at least 800 words for this to come into effect.
