Climb and See

With a small shake of her head, Spessy flicked her amber tail, the teal membrane flicking a little more than what she intended. She ignored it, laying down on that rocky outcrop, a smile tugging onto her face, "Come on you two, you need to finish climbing."

Instantly she was met by a whine of frustration but also a laughter, which was also had a hint of weird frustration. The two smaller kelpies, both young, looked up at her, her rainbow boy and her beautiful pink child. Both needed some lessons in exploring, so she though this was a bit of a good opportunity to actually do that. It was a lovely, sunny day and just climbing over some hills to explore their little island would be good for them.

Abaddon looked up to her, pouting, saying in the most whining tone which he could muster, "Do I have to? It's just so high up!"

Instantly, Anvin was chirping a response in delight, in an obnoxiously happy tone, "Yes! It's a family trip!" He declared, the rainbow child beginning to bound up the rocky outcrop, sending small pebbles down to his less confident and enthusiastic brother. Abaddon groaned loudly at his brothers enthusiasm. Slowly trudging up the side of the mountain, ascending the side of the cliff slowly, climbing higher with every step.

Anvin reached the top before his brother, giving Spessy a rather happy nudge with his nose, whiskers flicking as he did so. Spessy shook her head, her nose scrunching up slightly as they brushed over the ridge of her nose, not exactly appreciating that. But she shrugged a little internally, knowing that she'd have to just deal with those sorts of silly little things that her kids would do to her. Though she turned her attention back down to Abaddon, watching how the younger pink kelpie dragged his feet, clearly not wanting to even remotely try and explore.

"Come on kiddo, it'll be worth it when you're up here." She said, honestly, a small smile on her face, "It's not that much further. Just a few more steps."

"A few more steps, I have to climb half the cliff still!" Abaddon retorted, an exasperated tone to his voice, huffing softly as he slowly climbed up, though with every step, his legs were aching, burning more and more, but the young kelpie ignored it. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally managed to get to the top, where Spessy and Anvin were waiting for him, the rainbow kelpie practically jumping from side to side in excitement, clearly wanting to just run off. Abaddon, the calmer, more groucher one of the two, turned his head to Spessy, slightly glaring at his mother.

"And just what was... So darn... Important that you dragged us all the way up here?" Abaddon half snapped, gritting his teeth as he wanted nothing more than to just go back home and drag a blanket over his head and sleep.

"You'll be happy you're here!" Anvin declared, as Spessy chuckled, shaking her head, "You'll see... Just come on Mr. Grouch."

Abaddon gave them both a frustrated look, before huffing as he flopped down onto a flat rock, simply just not wanting to do anything, if he was completely honest with himself. But he didn't expect that rainbow Kelpie to flop onto him, as Spessy slowly rose to her feet, her teal eyes looking to them with a raised eyeridge. "Come on you two, before you get into more trouble... You can be lazy later."

She instructed, knowing that they'd follow her as she got up, moving away from the pair of them. Spessy lead the grudging Abaddon and Anvin along the top of the cliff, glancing over her shoulder every now and then. She was amused that Abaddon was still dragging his claws as Anvin was happily jumping from rock to rock, chattering in excitement to the very unamused Abaddon. Slowly Spessy lead them a few hundred metres down the twisting cliff top, before she stopped, slowly sitting down again. "Come on you two... It's worth it."

Anvin left Abaddon in the dust, bounding towards Spessy, landing heavily on his feet as he looked around eagerly, a gasp leaving his mouth, "Aba! Come on! It's so worth it!" He chirped, even as the pink Kelpie trudged over, before flopping down on his rump next to Spessy, huffing melodramatically. "What's so special about this?"

Spessy rolled her eyes, before giving him a very curt, "Just look."

Surprised by Spessy's tone of voice, the kelpie looked up to her before looking towards where she was, Anvin excitedly looking around as well. And his mouth open agape at the sight he saw. Lush mountains overlooked a valley swimming in small streams and vibrant flowers, some even glowing in the dying light of the sun, twinkling gently among the dark overgrowth of the shadows given by the trees and other small rocky outcrops. Birds were flying down to their nests, deer and other wildlife moving through the thick green grasses, other carnivorous species running around after smaller prey. Overlooking them, sitting back and actually watching them... It was truly was beautiful in their own right.

Even though Abaddon was proud, even though he hated having to come up so far, there was only one thing that left his mouth was one word; "Magnificent."

That got a small chuckle from his younger brother, and a smile from Spessy. She knew that they'd both like it... If they could just get their focus of themselves to truly enjoy being out there, out of their comfort zones, and actually explore the world around them and outside of their own home.

Spessy decided to take her two kids out, just for a bit of fun and to get them to explore outside of their comfrot zones.
